Friday Self Care

One helluva week. Day job vs life’s dreams. A beloved child who is prevented from knowing the beauty of work because the demons demand immense exertion, challenging his life's dreams and expressions of wholeness and giftedness. Terminating the employment of a person with limited capacities. The overwhelming beauty of a team of people rowing hard, synchronized in the same direction.

Life can be hard for everyone.

Adulting requires leveling up, owning and making sense of my experience on a regular basis. Finding a little softness, subtlety, quiet, and peace helps. So does a glass of beautiful wine.

Many thanks to wine farmers and winemakers whose passion and life’s energy make my celebrations brighter and my self-care recovery periods gentler. Chris and Matt Shown, father and son growers and makers of Brigadoon Wine Co.'s Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, and Pinot Noir Rosé are among a handful of my favorite 100-mile radius producers. Delightful focus and joy pour out of each bottle they produce.  A glass of their floral, minerally, earthy Willamette Valley 2015 Lylee Pinot Noir eased the transition from life's battles to the restorative goodness the weekend will bring.
